The extensive range of concentrate products has been designed to meet the most challenging fire hazards in the civil, municipal & governmental, maritime, industrial and military applications.
AFFF Foam concentrates from SABO Foam
Aqueous film forming foam (type AFFF, or also known as A ripple F) concentrates are formulated with hydrocarbon and fluorocarbon surfactants to produce high-performance, synthetic firefighting foams for use on non-polar, Class B hydrocarbon fuel, such as crude oil, petroleum, diesel and aviation fuels. These concentrates may be applied with a wide variety of proportioning and discharge devices and suppress fire via three mechanisms:
1) separating the liquid fuel from the air
2) helping to prevent vapour release
3) providing a cooling effect.
With a wide spectrum of approvals and listings from inspecting authorities, SABO FOAM AFFF concentrates offer firefighting solutions for a variety of fixed, semi-fixed, and emergency response applications.
AFFF concentrates have excellent wetting properties that can also effectively combat Class A fires, and they may be used in conjunction with dry chemical agents to provide even greater fire suppression performance. AFFF concentrates are not suitable for use on polar fuels with appreciable water solubility such as alcohols, acetone, and methyl ethyl ketone.
AR-AFFF Foam concentrates from SABO Foam
Alcohol Resistant Aqueous Film-Forming Foam (AR-AFFF) concentrates are high-performance, synthetic firefighting concentrates formulated with hydrocarbon and fluorosurfactants, fluoropolymers and water-soluble polysaccharide polymers. AR-AFFF concentrates produce foams that are effective in suppressing both types of Class B fuel fires - polar solvent (water soluble) fuels such as methanol, ethanol and acetone, as well as hydrocarbon fuels, such as petrol, diesel and petroleum.
When AR-AFFF is applied to a water-soluble fuel, a polymeric membrane is formed between the foam and the fuel. When the foam is applied to a hydrocarbon fuel, a film is created at the fuel/air interface, similar to AFFF. Just as with AFFF, AR-AFFF inhibits vapour release and provides a foam blanket cooling effect in the suppression of both types of Class B fires.
With a wide spectrum of approvals and listings from inspecting authorities, SABO FOAM AR-AFFF concentrates offer firefighting solutions for a variety of fixed, semi-fixed, and emergency response applications. These concentrates may be applied with a host of proportioning and discharge devices for either gentle or forceful application (Type I or Type II application).
Protein Foam Concentrates from SABO Foam
Protein firefighting foam concentrates are formulated with naturally occurring hydrolysed proteins, in combination with foam stabilizers, bactericides, corrosion inhibitors, anti-freeze additives and solvents. Protein-based firefighting foams provide a robust foam blanket for Class B fire and vapour suppression. More complex Fluoroprotein (FP) and Fluoroprotein Alcohol Resistant (FPAR) foam concentrates also include fluorochemicals and polymer additives to enhance the foam’s flame extinguishing properties and to inhibit its fuel absorption.
With a wide spectrum of approvals and listings from inspecting authorities, SABO FOAM protein and fluoroprotein foam concentrates offer fire suppression performance for a variety of fixed, semi-fixed, and emergency response applications. Typical uses include on-board marine systems, oil and gas tank farms, refineries, and storage facilities.
High Expansion Foam Concentrates from SABO Foam
High Expansion (HI-EX) foam concentrates are non-fluorinated formulations containing hydrocarbon surfactants, solvents, and stabilizers. These concentrates expand at high ratios, typically between 200:1 and 1000:1, to suppress Class A, Class B, and LNG fires and vapours.
When used with high expansion foam generators, HI-EX concentrates can quickly form voluminous foam quantities to fill large rooms and enclosures in minutes. The expansive foam volume assists suppression of horizontal and vertical (three-dimensional) fires with minimum water use. HI-EX foam systems are often used for fire protection in large buildings containing high-grade property such as aircraft hangars and distribution warehouses.
When used with medium-pressure foam equipment, HI-EX concentrates form a foam blanket that suppresses fuel vapour and provides a fire-suppressing cooling effect. Medium-expansion foam is less affected by wind conditions and, therefore, is often used in outdoor applications.
